Global Partnership for Hydrogen launched during Vienna Energy Forum

VIENNA, 6 July 2021 – Within the framework of the 2021 Vienna Energy Forum (VEF), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) launched the Global Partnership for Hydrogen Application in Industry to promote its application at global level as an innovative technology critical to decarbonize industry, especially in hard-to-abate sectors.

Director General speaks at Morocco's green hydrogen conference

MARRAKESH, 22 June 2022 - Director General Gerd Müller delivered an opening address at the World PtX Summit in Marrakesh, Morocco. The World PtX Summit is organized in a joint effort between the Moroccan Research Institute for Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN) and the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University with the aim of creating a regional platform dedicated to green hydrogen. Speaking via a video link, Müller talked about the future of green hydrogen as a lever for the transition towards more sustainable industry.

UNIDO informs Member States on hydrogen-related opportunities

VIENNA, 6 JULY 2022 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) provided its Member States with an online introduction to the different types of colour-based hydrogen (for example green and blue) together with a classification that quantifies the hydrogen’s CO2 content or carbon footprint.

COP27: UNIDO to support new Global Renewable Hydrogen Forum

SHARM EL-SHEIKH – UNIDO Director General, Gerd Müller, took part in the “Investing in the Future of Energy: Green Hydrogen” high-level roundtable at COP27, co-chaired by Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of Arab Republic of Egypt, and Olaf Scholz, Chancellor of Germany.

The roundtable focused on ways to enhance investments in the field of green hydrogen to confront climate change and activate the role of the private sector.
